Prato rosa - Pink meadow

Prosegue la mia ondata di entusiasmo e nuove energie, così vi presento il risultato del mio cucito della scorsa settimana! 
The wave of enthusiasm and new energies is going on, so I'm going to show you the result of my sewing from last week! 

Gonnellina (taglia 2 anni) in doppio strato di cotone fantasia, leggermente arricciata in vita 
Skirt (size 2T) in double layer of printed cotton fabric, slightly gathered at the waist

L'elastico in vita, rivestito di jersey rosa vivace, la rende comoda da indossare. In più è in perfetto abbinamento con i fiorellini della gonna! 
The elastic band in the waist, covered with bright pink jersey, makes it comfortable to ware. Moreover it matches perfectly with the flowers of the cotton fabric!

Questo modello mi piace un sacco, tanto che sto già realizzando un'altra gonnellina simile ma con tessuti diversi! 
I really like this skirt pattern, so much that I'm already working on a similar skirt but using different fabrics!

Mettere in ordine - Tidying up

Finalmente mi sono decisa a mettere un po' in ordine la mia stanza del cucito! 
Finally I decided to tidy up a bit my sewing room! 

Meglio tardi che mai... 
Better late than never... 

Ho ritrovato una scatola che avevo ricevuto tempo fa quando avevo ricevuto un oggetto ordinato su internet. Utilissima per riordinare, ma questa non era molto semplice da aprire: bisognava infilare le dita nell'apertura per riuscire a sollevare il coperchio 
I found a box that I received some time ago when I ordered an item on internet. Very useful to tidy up, but this was not easy to open: I had to insert the fingers in the opening to lift the lid 

Così ho pensato di modificarla un po'
So I decided to modify it a bit 

Materiale occorrente: 
una scatola difficile da aprire 
un ritaglio di nastro (ne bastano circa 15cm)
uno stecchino di legno (purtroppo ho dimenticato di inserirlo nella foto...)
taglierino o forbici 
ago e filo 
righello e matita
Material: 
a box difficult to open 
a leftover of ribbon (15cm are enough)
a wooden tootpick (sorry, I left it out of the picture...)
cutter or scissors 
needle and thread 
ruler and pencil

Aprite il coperchio e con matita e righello segnate il centro del bordo, nella piegatura 
Open the lid and using ruler and pencil mark the centre of the edge, along the folding

Disegnate un tratto leggermente più largo del nastro e fate un taglio lungo il tratto segnato 
Draw a line slightly larger than the ribbon and but along this sign

Piegare il nastro e inserire le estremità all'interno del taglio, lasciando la parte piegata all'esterno della scatola 
Fold the ribbon and insert the ends inside the cut, leaving the folded part outside the box

Cucite insieme i due lembi del nastro 
Sew the two ends of the ribbon together

Inserite lo stecchino tra i nastri e cucite i nastri tra loro in modo da bloccarlo 
Insert the tootpick between the ribbon ends and sew them together to block the tootpick

Tagliate le estremità appuntite dello stecchino 
Cut the sharp ends of the tootpick

Chiudete la scatola, tirate la parte esterna del nastro ed ecco la vostra scatola pronta per riordinare
Close the box, pull the folded side of the ribbon and here is your box ready to tidy up 

Così semplice da aprire!!! 
So simple to open!!!

Tanti fiorellini per un abito - Many flowers for a dress

Alcuni anni fa avevo acquistato una stoffa di cotone carinissima, tanti piccoli fiorellini multicolore su fondo lilla. Peccato che non sapessi come abbinarla, così è finita nello scatolone delle stoffe e, lentamente, nel dimenticatoio...
Few years ago I bought a cute cotton fabric with many colourful flowers over lilac background. But I couldn't figure out how to coordinate it with other fabrics, so I put it in the fabric box and, slowly, I forgot it... 

Alcuni giorni fa, mettendo in ordine tra le mie stoffe, mi è capitata in mano per puro caso quella stoffa insieme ad altre due avanzate da un vecchio progetto e ho visto che insieme erano perfette! Potevo forse resistere alla tentazione di ricavarne un abito da bimba??? Ovviamente no!!!
Some days ago, while organizing my fabrics, I took in my hand that fabric by chance together with two other fabrics left from an old project and I saw they are just perfect together! Could I resist to the idea of making a girl dress out of them??? Of course not!!!

In the bottom part, two colourful stripes decorated with a light pink ric-rac and a fabric flower

Direi che i bottoncini a fiori acquistati ad Amsterdam per il mio compleanno sono perfetti in questo caso! Non trovate anche voi?
I think the buttons with flowers I bought in Amsterdam for my birthday are just perfect for this dress! Don't you think so? 

Dopo il post della scorsa settimana ho deciso di rimboccarmi le maniche, e vi annuncio che questo abitino è il primo passo verso la riapertura del mio negozio su Etsy!!! Ci vorrà ancora un po' di tempo, ma ce la farò!
After the post from last week I decided to get down to it, and I announce you that this dress is the first step to the new opening of my Etsy shop!!! I still need some time for it, but I'll made it!

Basta scuse - No more excuses

Oggi niente creazioni, oggi voglio condividere con voi un pezzetto di me. 
Today no creations, today I want to share with you a piece of me. 

Ad inizio anno, come credo molte di voi, avevo fatto una bella lista di buoni propositi per questo 2014. Ma in questi giorni mi sono accorta di averne dimenticato uno fondamentale: 
At the beginning of this year, as probably most of you, I made some resolutions for the 2014. But in the last days I noticed I forgot a fundamental one: 

Io sono bravissima a trovare delle scuse per auto-giustificarmi quando non faccio qualcosa che dico di voler fare. Negli ultimi mesi, ovviamente, la scusa più gettonata è stata "faccio la pendolare e mi faccio 4 ore di viaggio al giorno, non ho tempo e/o sono troppo stanca". Ok, effettivamente può anche essere una giustificazione valida in alcuni casi, ma so benissimo che se non facessi la pendolare avrei comunque trovato un'altra scusa. L'ho sempre fatto. Modestamente sono un genio nel trovarmi delle scuse!!! 
I'm really good at finding excuses to self-justify myself when I don't do something I always say I want to do. In the last months obviously the most used excuse has been "I'm a commuter, I face 4 hours of travel each day, I don't have time and/or I'm too tired". Ok, actually it can be a valid excuse in some situation but I know that, were I not a commuter, I would have found a different excuse. I always did. If I may say so myself, I'm a genius at finding self-excuses!!! 

Ma da quest'anno basta! Non voglio ritrovarmi all'età della pensione a dire "Eh, da giovane mi sarebbe piaciuto fare questo e quest'altro, ma non ho potuto perchè... scuse, scuse, scuse... ". 
But from this year stop! I don't want to find myself at retirement age saying "Ah, when I was young I would have done this and this, but I couldn't because... excuses, excuses, excuses..."

Ci sono alcune cose che rimando da troppo tempo, è ora di darmi da fare. Senza più scuse! 
There are some things I'm postponing from too much time, now it's time to get down to them. Without excuses! 

E i vostri propositi per l'anno nuovo, come stanno andando? Siete sulla buona strada?

Portachiavi e dimenticanza - Keyring and forgetfulness

Una grossa perla tonda, un paio di fiorellini, una piccola sfera con strass per dare luce e un po' di pietre di vetro di varie forme e sfumature 
One big round bead, a couple of flowers, one small sphere with strasses to give some shine and some glass stones in different shapes and shades

Il tutto unito da una catenella argentata con un anello in cima, ed ecco il "portachiavi" del titolo. Così è più semplice trovare le chiavi che, si sa, noi donne abbiamo sempre il mondo intero dentro le nostre borse!!! 
All linked to a silver-coloured chain with a ring on top, and here is the "keyring" of the title. In this way it's easier to find the keys because, you know, we women always have the whole world inside our bags!!! 

E la "dimenticanza" del titolo? Ebbene, questo è un portachiavi che avevo realizzato nel lontano 2010... 
And what about the "forgetfulness" of the title? Well, this is a keyring I realized way back in 2010... 

Una ragazza me lo aveva commissionato come regalo per una sua amica, all'epoca avevo pubblicato questo post con una piccola preview per non rovinare la sorpresa alla richiedente ma poi, inspiegabilmente, mi ero dimenticata di postare il portachiavi completo! 
A girl commissioned me this keyring as present for a friend, at that time I published this post with just a small preview not to spoil the surprise to the requester but then, inexplicably, I forgot to publish the completed keyring!

Pantaloni con pesciolino - Trousers with a fish

Ma si può??? Il mio nipotino ha compiuto un anno ad Ottobre (mentre noi eravamo in viaggio di nozze) e ancora non aveva nessun vestito targato RobyGiup!!! Che vergogna... 
Really??? My nephiew was one year old last October (while we were in our honeymoon) and he never received a RobyGiup dress!!! What a shame... 

Ma finalmente per Natale mi sono rifatta!
But finally for Christmas I made ammends!

Pantaloni in velluto blu chiaro con due tasconi sul davanti e un pesciolino ricamato a mano
Trousers in light blue velvet with the big pockets on the front and an embroidered little fish

risvolti in fondo rivestito di flanella stampata a bolle, per rimanere in tema "marino". Ovviamente mi ero fissata con l'idea della flanella a bolle e non sono riuscita a trovarla in nessun negozio... così ne ho comprato un pezzo azzurro chiaro e ho "stampato" le bolle usando colori per stoffa bianco e blu, un ditale per le bolle più grandi e un tubicino di plastica per le bolle piccole 
turn-ups lined with bubble printed flannel, to match the "sea" theme. Obviously I fixate on the bubble printed flannel but I coudn't find it in any fabric shop... so I bought some light blue flannel and "printed" it with bubbles with fabric paint in white and blue, using a thimble for the big bubbles and a small plastic pipe for the small ones 

all'interno del giro vita, una striscia della stessa flanella dei risvolti nasconde un elastico ad occhielli, per regolare la larghezza in vita. Per chiudere ho utilizzato dei bottoni a pressione argentati (che sono già diventati i miei bottoni preferiti! Credo che d'ora in avanti li userò ovunque!!!) 
inside the waist, a stripe of the same printed flannel hides a piece of elastic with eyelets, to adjust the waist size. For the closure I used silver snaps (that just became my favourite buttons! I think I'll use them everywhere from now on!!!)
