Per bimbi prematuri - For premature babies

Vi avevo già parlato, qualche anno fa, dell'associazione Cuore di Maglia: realizzano e raccolgono copertine, cuffie, scarpine, sacchi nanna lavorati a maglia o all'uncinetto per bambini prematuri, che consegnano poi ai reparti di Terapia Intensiva Neonatale di diversi ospedali in tutta Italia. 
I already introduced you, few years ago, the italian association Cuore di Maglia ("knitted heart"): they realize and collect hand-knitted bonnets, shoes, blankets for premature babies, and they deliver those items to several Neonatal Intensive Care Units all over Italy.

Fortunatamente è possibile rendersi utili anche con il cucito (cosa che mi riesce bene) e non solo con maglia e uncinetto (arti in cui sono una super-principiante): è possibile infatti realizzare dei minuscoli body di cotone per i bimbi prematuri, chiamati MiniBodyBù. 
Luckily it's possible to help also with sewing (activity I'm good at) and not only with knitting or crocheting (where I'm a real greenhorn): we can realize tiny cotton onesies for the premature babies, called MiniBodyBu. 

I body sono piuttosto semplici da realizzare, sono formati da un unico pezzo di stoffa per evitare cuciture che possano dare fastidio ai bimbi e sono rifiniti con dello sbieco di cotone. A questo link è disponibile un tutorial utilissimo su come realizzarli, per ricevere il cartamodello in formato PDF potete mandare una mail all'associazione. 
The onesies are rather simple to realize, they are made of just one piece of fabric to avoid seams that can chafe the babies and are finished off with cotton bias. At this link (...only in italian...) you can find a tutorial, to get the PDF pattern you can send an email at the association. 

La mia produzione è quasi pronta, c'è ancora qualche body in attesa di essere completato e poi potrò spedirli! 
My production is quite ready, there are still few onesies to complete and then I'll send them!

Andando al mercato - Going to the market

Inizio a prendere confidenza con la nuova città, stamattina ho fatto un giro al mercato per prendere frutta e verdura fresche e soprattutto per vedere se ci sono banchi di stoffe per abbigliamento, visto che qui a Novara c'è un solo negozio di tessuti. 

I'm starting to become familiar with the new town, this morning I went to the market to buy fresh fruit and vegetables and mainly to find out if there are fabric stands, since here in Novara there is only one fabric shop.

Ebbene sì, ho trovato un banco di tessuti d'abbigliamento e uno di merceria. E ne ho subito approfittato per comperare qualche metro di sbieco di cotone fantasia che utilizzerò per terminare alcuni MiniBodyBù che ho già tagliato. 

Yes, I found one clothing fabrics stand and one haberdasher's stand. And I already bought few meters of printed bias that I'll use to complete some MiniBodyBù I already cut. 

Non ho ancora comperato stoffe perchè devo prima decidere a quali progetti voglio dedicarmi, comunque mi è sembrato che avessero una discreta varietà di materiali e di fantasie. 

I still didn't buy any fabric because I need first to decide what project I'm going to realize, anyway it seems they have a decent choiche of materials and patterns. 

Se non fosse che hanno provato a rubarmi la bici nuova (fortunatamente senza riuscirci) sarebbe stata una mattinata perfetta... 

If it wasn't for the fact that someone tried to steal my new bike (luckily without succeeding) it would have been a perfect morning...

Intermezzo

Tra un tentativo e l'altro per l'abito da sposa mi piace dedicarmi a qualche altra attività.
Among an attempt and another for the wedding dress I like to apply to some other activity.

Ad esempio tagliare la stoffa per altri MiniBodyBù per Cuore di Maglia! 

For example cutting the fabric for more MiniBodyBù for Cuore di Maglia!

Mi rilassa mettermi a tagliare la stoffa la sera dopo cena mentre guardo la tv. Prima o poi dedicherò anche qualche ora ad applicare lo sbieco e ad attaccare i bottoni. 

It's relaxing to cut the fabric in the evening after dinner while watching the tv. In the next weeks I will dedicate some hours to add the bias and buttons.

Non è carinissima la stoffa con le casette?!?! 

I love the fabric with the small houses, isn't it nice?!?!

Pronti, partenza, via! - Ready, steady, go!

Ecco i miei primi cinque MiniBodyBù! Pronti per essere spediti a Cuore di Maglia per andare a rallegrare qualche bimbo prematuro e la sua famiglia

Aspetterò settimana prossima per la spedizione: questo weekend li porterò a mia mamma visto che le ho raccontato di questa iniziativa ed è curiosa di vederli
I'll wait for the next week to send them: this weekend I'm going to take them to my mother since I told her about this initiative and she is curious to see them

Ho già pronte un po' di stoffine allegre per i prossimi!!!

Stecche - Boning

Ora che ho la mia macchinina da cucire mi sono lanciata su un nuovo progetto: un corpino con le stecche!

Now that I have my new sewing machine I started a new project: a bodice with boning!

Questo è solo un primo tentativo, fatto con pezzi di un vecchio lenzuolo (vi ricorda qualcosa?!) basandomi su un modello preso da Burda. A dire la verità non mi piace particolarmente come modello, ma ho deciso di fare un passo alla volta: prima imparare a mettere le stecche, poi modificare il cartamodello per adattarlo ai miei gusti.

This is only a first attempt, made with pieces from an old bed sheet (remember anything?!) using a pattern from Burda. To be honest I don't like the pattern very much, but I decided to proceed by steps: first learning how to use boning, then trying to modify the pattern.

E i MiniBodyBù che erano rimasti in sospeso?! Tranquilli, non mi sono dimenticata!!! Sono a buon punto, prossimamente le foto e la spedizione a Cuore di Maglia!

And the MiniBodyBù that were in pending?! Don't worry, I didn't forget them!!! They are quite completed, I will soon post the pictures and send them to Cuore di Maglia!

Pending

Purtroppo la mia macchinina da cucire mi ha definitivamente abbandonata... così ho dovuto sospendere la produzione dei MiniBodyBù 

Unfortunately my sewing machine is definitively gone... so I have to put in pending the production of MiniBodyBù

Uno è già pronto, altri quattro sono in lavorazione e dovranno aspettare la macchinina nuova per essere completati e spediti a "Cuore di Maglia". 

One is ready,  other four are in progress and should wait for my new sewing machine to be completed and sent to "Cuore di Maglia".

Spero di riuscire a passare in negozio questo sabato!
I hope I can go to the store on Saturday!

Un "Cuore" grande così - A "Cuore" (heart) this big

Oggi non parlerò di mie creazioni. Oggi voglio aiutare a far conoscere un progetto stupendo.
Today I'm not talking about my creations. Today I want to help spreading a awesome project.

Forse già conoscete l'associazione "Cuore di Maglia": realizzano e raccolgono copertine, cuffie, scarpine, sacchi nanna lavorati a maglia o all'uncinetto per bambini prematuri, da consegnare poi ai reparti di Terapia Intensiva Neonatale di diversi ospedali.
Maybe you already know the organization "Cuore di Maglia" (or maybe the italian readers would...): they realize and collect hand knitted bonnets, shoes, blankets for premature babies, to be delivered to several Neonatal Intensive Care Units.

Hanno anche realizzato il cartamodello, è sufficiente mandare loro una mail per farselo spedire. Il body è formato da un solo pezzo di stoffa, per evitare cuciture che possono dare fastidio ai bimbi. Per chi avesse bisogno di un aiutino Fux ha anche realizzato un tutorial dettagliatissimo! Click sull'immagine qui sotto per vederlo!
They also realized the pattern, to receive it just write them an email. The bodysuit is made up of a single fabric piece, to avoid seams that can bother the babies.
