Intoppo - Hitch

Capita che, una volta terminata la versione di prova del vestito, io mi sia accorta che... il modello non mi piace!!! E' molto diverso da come era disegnato sul libro, avevo già dei sospetti perchè "ad occhio" non mi tornava come la stoffa potesse assumere una certa forma... Ma così proprio non mi piace! Per di più è troppo lungo. Sigh...
It happens that, after finishing the test dress, I realize that... I don't like it!!! It's very different from the drawing on the book, I had some doubts because I did'n see how the fabric could behave in the expected way... But definitely I don't like it! And it is also too long. Sigh...

Così ho cambiato modello, il corpino rimarrà uguale (anche quello comunque è ancora da sistemare) e la gonna sarà più corta e con tre balze a godet. Speriamo bene...
So I decided to change the pattern, the bodice will remain as it is (still to tune) and the skirt will become shorter and with three gore flounces. Hope it will look nice...

Ho anche già comprato la stoffa, sabato ho fatto un bel giro tra negozi di stoffa giusto in tempo prima che chiudessero per ferie!
On Saturday I bought the fabric, I had a trip in several fabric shops just before their summer holidays!

Dopo lunghissima indecisione (io sono il terrore dei negozianti, posso stare ore a guardare due stoffe senza decidermi!!!) ho scelto un bellissimo shantung 100% seta lilla che dal diritto in realtà sembra più raso da tanto è lucido. Insomma, uno shantung effetto raso o un raso con una leggerissima venatura tipo shantung. Non saprei come definirlo. Luminosissimo!
After a very long hesitation (I'm the nightmare of storekeepers, I can stay hours looking at two fabrics without taking a decision!!!) I chose a lilac shantung 100% silk that seems satin. A sort of shantung with satin look or satin with light shantung grain, I don't know exactly how to describe it. Very bright!

So già che al momento di tagliarlo, quando inizierà a scivolare da tutte le parti lo maledirò.....
I know I will hate it the moment I will start to cut and it will slip everywhere.....

Acquisti - Shopping

Sabato mi sono data agli acquisti, ho finalmente comprato due cose che desideravo da mesi!!!
Saturday I went shopping, I bought two things I desired for months!!!

Corpino - Bodice

Ecco le foto del primo tentativo di corpino! Purtroppo non sono il massimo, ma già è difficile appuntarsi addosso da sola un corpino ancora senza cerniera, poi fare anche le foto... 
Here are the pictures of the first attempt of bodice! Unfortunately they are not good pictures, but that's pretty difficult to pin the bodice without zipper on myself by myself, then also taking pictures...

In realtà dopo queste foto l'ho modificato, era decisamente troppo stretto in vita e sui fianchi! Si vede dalle foto che fa un po' di grinze, soprattutto nella parte dietro. Ho anche deciso di modificare un po' la parte superiore del davanti, per togliere un piccolo difetto che facevano vicino alle ascelle.
After taking those pictures I modified it, it was definitely too tight in the waist and around the hips! You can see from the pictures, there are some wrinkles, mainly in the back. I also decided to modify  abit the upper part of the front to solve a small fault near the armpits.

Tutto sommato sono soddisfatta! Non è perfetto, ma come primo tentativo non è male.
All in all I'm satisfied! It's not perfect but as firts attempt it is not bad.

Ho anche iniziato ad assemblare alcune parti della gonna (alla fine verrà un abito unico ma assemblo corpino e gonna separatamente), ma non ho fatto foto perchè quella non era ancora indossabile.
I also started to assemble some parts of the skirt (it will be a dress all in one piece but I'm going to assemble the bodice and the skirt separately)  but I didn't take pictures because it is still not wearable.

Sono tornata - I'm back

Sono tornata (ma perchè le vacanze passano sempre in un lampo???) e oltre ad aver ripreso il mio lavoro in ufficio ho anche ripreso a lavorare sul vestito per il matrimonio a cui siamo stati invitati a settembre.
I'm back (why do holidays end so quickly???) and I started back not only my office job but also to work at the dress for the wedding we are invited at the end of September.

Ho terminato il cartamodello, realizzato utilizzando i   libri che avevo acquistato  , ora sono passata alla realizzazione della "prova", praticamente realizzo il vestito partendo da un vecchio lenzuolo che ha circa lo spessore della stoffa che vorrei usare. Se viene bene passerò alla realizzazione con la stoffa "ufficiale"!
I finished the paper pattern, drown using the books I bought few time ago, now I started to build a first attempt of the dress using an old bed sheet with approximately the same weight of the fabric I'm going to use for the dress. If everything goes fine I will start the dress in the "official" fabric!

Top Camilla modificato - Modified Camilla's Top

Alla fine ce l'ho fatta, poche ore prima della consegna: ho modificato il top per Camilla aggiungendo due strisce di tessuto sui fianchi e sostituendo le spalline con due più lunghe e chiuse da bottoni (avevo paura che la testa non passasse attraverso le vecchie spalline...)
In the end I did it, few hours before the delivery: I modified the top for Camilla by adding two fabric stripes on the sides and replacing the straps with two longer ones and closed with buttons (I feared the head would not pass through the old straps...)

Nella fretta ho fatto solo una foto alla parte alta! Comunque pare che il completino sia piaciuto, spero di vederlo anche indossato!
In the hurry I took only a picture of the upper part of the top! By the way it seems they appreciated the outfit, I hope I can also see it put on Camilla!
